if I'm not mistaken the fuel filter is located in the gas tank on the fuel pump it self, you have to drop the tank and remove the pump in order to get to the filter, a chiltons manual will be great help for this

On my '96, it's located in a box which is, more or less, behind the driver's side headlight, under the hood. Look for a great big hose leading into a box. That'll be it. The cover on my air filter box comes loose with a couple of screws.
