The idle air control valve (IAC) on this application is located on the throttle body assembly. The direct OE replacement IAC for the 2002 Montero with the 3.5L 6-cylinder is Standard Motor Parts/Intermotor #AC254.
It is in the valve cover.
You can find the PCV valve for your 1997 Mitsubishi Montero on top of the engine. The PCV valve will be in front of the air cleaner housing.

On the valve cover but you need to use a mirror (like the ones that your dentist use when you go for a check-up). You will be seeing only a reflected image of the valve.
The 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 3.0 liter engine valve cover torque specification is 40 pounds. You do not want to over torque the valve cover bolts, as you may ruin the valve cover gasket.
The EGR Valve on the 1996 Mitsubishi Galant is located underneath the Exhaust Manifold.

The strainer valve on the Mitsubishi Galant 2004, 2005, 2006 models is located next to the engine manifold.
From what I've read online, it looks like it's connected to the underside of the throttle body.
The heater valve is located behind the dash above and to the right of the accelerator pedal. The heater core is right beside it. It is operated by a linkage to the slider on the heater control panel.
