it is on the transmission. It is basicly under the air cleaner box. the input and output sensors are located here they both are attached by one bolt each and one elctrical connection. The input sensor in nearer the front of the car and the output about 7 inches behind the input sensor.
On top of the transmission
probably $150.. cos i had to pay 300 for both the input and output sensor....
I believe it is a input speed sensor. Hyundai calls them pulse generators on the 99 elantra.
Once you register, there is a pdf located at the following link that can show you both the Input and Output speed sensors. http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t5491-input-output-speed-sensors.htm
Where is my veh.speed sensor input location
Transmission range sensor circuit malfunction (PRNDL input)
Depends on which speed sensor: wheel speed sensor (non-ABS) islocated on right front wheel, input speed sensor is located on top oftransaxle under air box, output speed sensor is on top of transaxlekind of under brake master cylinder, vehicle speed sensor is locatedon top of differential housing.
The input and output speed sensors are located on the front of the trans. They have two wires and the input sensor is closer to the engine.

What this trouble code means that the input power(+) to the speed sensor is low.
Trouble code P0708 means:Transmission range sensor circuit high input
