There is no key to find. You will get it when the time comes.
After you chase the thief, you will be going to the Art Museum on Early Poptropica. You will talk to the curator and she will give you the key.
You don't have to find it.
Once you complete the scooter chase, return to the museum and you will get a package. Open it and scan it. It will say to meet the curator at the Early Poptropica museum. Do so, and she will give you the key.
go back to the museum and the guard will give you a package you will get the key from the curator on early poptropica in the art museum.
you go to early poptropica, and go inside the gray art place. there you talk to the lady in purple and get a key. the key goes to the locked house back in counterfeit island.

You go to the inspector's house - the key unlocks the door.
You now have a key that fits a lock on Counterfeit Island, and you haven't found a key to the lock on the Inspector's house, so...
You use the key from the Curator to unlock the Inspector's house in the CountrySide.

There is no key to the chest, and it never opens. It is a distraction.
The Supply Room door has a key, which you receive when you get the museum job. The underground entrance is locked with the Dragon Face lock. The house in the Countryside is only unlocked later in the game when you receive the key.
