On the 98 u have two oxygen sensors an upstream and a downstream. The upstream oxygen sensor is located closer to the front of the truck by the transmission. The downstream oxygen sensor is located on down torwards the back of the truck along the side of the frame.
The 1989 Dodge Dakota oxygen sensor can be found on the top of the engine. The oxygen sensor will be on the back side of the air cleaner housing.
In the exhaust pipe close to the manifold.
O2 sensor on 1990 Dodge Dakota is located on passenger side of exhast before catalytic converter. Most likely it has 4 wires.

The downstream oxygen sensor is located is located after the catalytic converter.
There is one on the manafold on the passenger side and there is one located on the exhaust between the converter and the muffler
I have a 96 Dakota 3.9L and it is located above the Y pipe before the converter. There is also one directly behind the catalytic converter.
