This verse from the gospel of John

Joh 12:15 "FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING, SITTING ON A DONKEY'S COLT." is a quote from Zechariah 9:9

There the prophet predicted that when the King came to Israel, He would be sitting on a donkey's colt.

The prophecies of the first coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, are numerous and begin in the beginning, with Genesis, Chapter 3:15, The Lord God speaking to the serpent the first gospel message "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel."

Isaiah 9:6-7, predicting the birth of Christ and His Kingship "For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgement and justice." His virgin birth- (Isaiah 7:14) "the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel (God with us)."

Other prophecies concerning His birth Genesis 12:3(descendant of Abraham), Genesis 17:19(descendant of Isaac), Numbers 24:17(descendant of Jacob), Genesis 49:10( from the tribe of Judah) Micah 5:2 tell us the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Isaiah 49:6 promises Jesus' salvation not only to Israel but also to Gentiles "I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, that You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth." Isaiah 53 gives a beautiful prophetic description of Christ's sacrifice on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, 53:4-6 "Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

These are just the tip of the iceberg; the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are well documented as historical fact.

No Old Testament book literally refers to Jesus, and there is no actual prophecy of him. But Burton L. Mack describes a trick that can be used to make any Old Testament book say what you want it to say. By this means, books such as Genesis, Isaiah and Daniel have been made to prophesy Jesus. Mack says inWho Wrote the New Testament that at first the study of a text may not seem to support a traditional Christian conviction, or the answer one hopes to find in The Bible. But with a little ingenuity, one can set up the comparison again with other emphases and make the answer come out right. This trick seems to come naturally when studying the Bible, and Mack sees it happen all the time in the classrooms of the School of Theology at Claremont.

Following these simple rules, you can have as many prophecies of Jesus as you wish.

The most famous use of the procedure Mack describes was nearly two thousand years ago, when the anonymous Greek-speaking author of Matthew's Gospel was looking for a biblical reference he could use to prove that Jesus was prophesied to be born of a virgin. The Septuagint (An early translation of the Hebrew Bible into the Greek language) incorrectly translated Isaiah 7:14 to say that a virgin would conceive and bear a child. The correct translation would have been "the young woman", and the young woman in question did have a child a few verses later in Isaiah. The author of the Gospel of Matthew relied on this mistranslation to show that it was prophesied that Jesus would be born of a virgin, although even in the Septuagint Jesus was not mentioned by name.
