Where is the relay switch on a 1989 Ford Mustang and can you bypass it or do you have to buy a new one?
Hi- Is it the fuel pump relay ?. This relay shuts the fuel pump off in case of an accident or receiving a hard bump as if getting lightly rearended at a stop light.. Please do not try to bypass it. It is there for emergency fuel shutoff.. It sometimes can just be reset. It is under the rear trim …panel below the hatch latch above spare tire. This is in a hatch back.. Some other cars cars have it on the rear left tire hump inside trunk. ( Full Answer )

Answer . Please consider the fuse box to find the flasher relay. Owner's Manual will give the fuse box's exact location and may have a list of which electrical function\neach fuse controls (in top-to-bottom, left-to-right order). Try looking under the hood near the windshield for a rectangular p…lastic cover (may be labeled "fuse") which may also have a list of each fuse's function and maximum electrical current number (probably also color-coded). Turn signals may be called "position lamps", "turn signals" or "warning/emergency lamps/lights", and they may have separate fuses for lamps on right- and left sides. Fuses are easily removed with tongs or thin pliers, and you should see a single thin strip of metal inside each fuse. When you find no such piece of metal, or two separate pieces, the fuse must be replaced. You probably have a set of extra fuses in the fuse box or glove box. Fuse box may also be located under the dashboard, somewhere between the steering wheel and driver's door. Good luck! ( Full Answer )

Meant to search for related questions about overheating 1991 ford mustang light switch. Friend stopped by saying her lights just quit. Checked switch and a clamp/clip for a one end of a fuse had burned itelf loose from the top of the switch. Jumpered from loose fuse-clip to proper side of fuse still… cliped to top of switch, ensuring no inadvertent electrical connections made between other wires. Lights worked fine, but insulation between aligator clips of jumper overheated/melting/burning and fuse still didn' burnout. She'll just have to sleep here tonight till a new switch can be bought ( Full Answer )

Hey man, I had the same problem until yesterday that I found the relay. It depends on the year of the car. You have two options: . Check on the Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM). This solid-state device also contains the EEC power relay and the fuel-pump relay (follow the link below for instruct…ions where is located). . If your car doesn't come with the CCRM, check inside the car, driver's side, underneath the instruments panel near the steering column. You will see a little black box with several wires (check the second link for a reference on how it looks). There is where I found the relay on my car, and I'm pretty sure it is the one. Just follow the wires and make sure those matches with the ones going to the electric fan.
