Where is the transmission dipstick located on a 1996 Chevy Cavalier?
If it is a manual, and like a 1997 cavalier, it will be located below the brake fluid reservoir, buried under hoses and is marked "trans". I was able to get to it in a 1997 from above, but scraped the heck out of my arm. Probably best to get at it from below, but so far I have only tried once, so don't know if from below is easier!
The transmission has a very small dipstick that is yellow located between the transmission mount and transmission on the side closest to the radiator. There is a 13mm bolt that holds the dipstick in place. Do not remove any bolts from the top of the transmission or you can end up having to have the transmission fixed.
There is no transmission dip stick. On the drivers side under the thermostat housing you have a red cap, that is your fill tube for the transmission. TJMAN DALLAS GA I'm not sure where it is located, but i know on alot of newer Chevy cars that there may not be one, because the transmission system is sealed.

I have a 1993 Cavalier in which I finally figured this out and I am assuming that it is similar to the 1994 location.
