Water sending unit: Drivers side head up front between the first 2 spark plugs. Oil sending unit is behind the distributor screewed into the top of the engine block.
In through the bottom hose, out through the top.
Some do, some don't. The distributor, starter and alternator fit, the water pump does not. The mounting brackets are all different.
WATER temp. senser will be on the drivers side head up front between the 1st 2 spark plugs. Oil sending unit will be screewed into the top rear of the engine block just behind the distributor to the right an inch or so.

Flushing a small block Chevy engine involves opening the petcock, draining the coolant, filling the system with water, and adding a flush solution. The vehicle is ran for about 10 minutes, drained, and refilled with a 50/50 mixture of water and anti-freeze.
Do not use sealant on the head gasket. I use permatex on the threads of the bolts that go into water jackets.
One in the intake, near the thermostat, and the other one, in the upper port on the water pump.
