Where was the book of psalms written?

A:Psalms is traditionally attributed to Kings David and Solomon and to their courtiers, but scholars tell us that the Book of Psalms was actually written over a period of more than two hundred years, during and after the Babylonian Exile.

Some of the exiled Jews were held in and around the city of Babylon, but many were located in the northern border region close to Assyria. Many of the psalms would have been written in these communities. After the Return from Exile, most of the remaining psalms would have been written in Jerusalem.
