All nuclear bombs from the first ones in 1945 until 1949 (when the USSR built their first) were made at Los Alamos, NM. The materials and parts for them were made at hundreds of facilities spread across the United States (most of the companies having no idea what the things they manufactured were being used in or how) then shipped to Los Alamos. These early bombs were "kit bombs" coming in two large wooden crates of parts and a separate metal "birdcage" containing the fissile core material (not fully assembled as modern ones are) with final assembly in the field over a period of 3 days.
