It added California and the Southwest.

Depending on how you define Southwestern states, you have Arizona and New Mexico for certain. California and Texas can be added to your list if your definition is broad enough. All of these states border Mexico. None of the states on the Canadian border would be considered "southwetern".
All of present day Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico plus other claims that it had and affirmed the loss of Texas in the the Texas War of Independence and set the border with Texas at the Rio Grande.
