"I think of it this way: the more bonds an atom has, the stronger it can hold onto the other atom, and therefore it's able to pull it in real tight - making it short and strong both!

Here's what my chem book says:

  • A single bond has a bond order of 1.
  • a double bond has a bond order of 2.
  • A triple bond has a bond order of 3.

In a given pair of atoms, a higher bond order results in a shorter bond length and a higher bond energy. A shorterbond is a stronger bond.

The strongest bond between two atoms will be a single bond between Carbon and Flourine. Other than a few exceptions the rule of thumb would say"triple bonds are the strongest.while single bonds being the weakest, even though I already pointed out a flaw in that plan. Hope that helps!

Triple. A single bond is a sigma bond at a greater distance and lesser bond breaking energy needed. A triple bond includes two close hugging pi bonds( along with a single sigma) and takes much energy to break. Nitrogen is triple bonded and the base of many powerful explosives because of the stored energy in those triple bonds.

Triple bonds are the strongest, followed by double bonds, with single bonds being the least strong. Triple bonds have two pi and one sigma bond, so they share many electrons. Double bonds have one pi and one sigma. Single only have sigma bonds.

A triple bond is the shortest and the strongest. A double bond is shorter and stronger than a single bond, but weaker and longer than a triple bond. Single bonds are the longest and weakest.

Yes organic molecules can have single bonds, double bonds and triple bonds. Larger molecules, more than two carbons, always have single bonds and may have double and triple.
