Owls are birds with eyes on the front of their heads.
Owl eyes are large and face forward. This gives it a wide range of "binocular" vision (seeing an object with both eyes as humans do). Owls can see in 3 dimensions (height/width/depth) and can judge distances. The "viewing screen" for an owl is 110 degrees (human is 180). Of that 70 degrees is binocular.
Unlike humans, owls have tubular eyes, they cannot "roll" the eyes, but are always looking straight ahead, and they have 3 eyelids for protection. They also have very limited color vision and are farsighted and unable to focus on very close objects.
Many birds have human-like eyes, with what is known as binocular vision. This means that there are two eyes on the front of the face, not the sides. As a rule of thumb, predatory birds have binocular vision, and prey birds don't.

Many birds have their eyes on the sides of their head (owls are an exception). In order to focus on objects in front of them, they have to turn their heads.
Many predatory animals, such as owls or lions, have large, front-facing eyes to help them locate prey. Birds that avoid animals with this feature have a better chance of not being eaten.
Look at the animal's eyes. If they are in the front of the head (like man) they have stereoscopic vision. If they are on the sides of the head (like most birds) they don't.
Because most animals do...Why do i have eyes on the front of my head? this answers is not a good answer i can name tonnes of animals that have eyes on the sides of their heads, and birds too.
They have eyes on the side of their heads.
Birds avoid animals with large eyes on the front of their heads because they see them as predators. This is frightening to the bird, so they stay away. Animals with smaller eyes to the side, rather than front, are not thought of as predators by the birds.
The eyes of a koala are basically positioned in the front of its head, though they are set back a little.
