"Turn! Turn! Turn! (to Everything There is a Season)", is a song adapted entirely from the Book of Ecclesiastes 3:1 in The Bible (with the exception of the last line) and composed to music by Pete Seeger in 1959.
# To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: # A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; # A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; # A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; # A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; # A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; # A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; # A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Ecclesiastes 3.

The "turn, turn, turn" part was added by Pete Seeger, the "author" of the song.

The Byrds made music in the early and middle of the nineteen sixties and the genre of music they played was soft blues and rock n roll music that was generally attributed to Elvis during this time.
I think Bob Dylan wrote the song (and sang it as well) but I know Roger Mcguinn of the Byrds (with help on harmony from David Crosby) sang it on their cover version of "Turn, Turn, Turn".

The first one that comes to mind is the Pete Seeger song 'Turn,Turn,Turn' with lyrics borrowed from Ecclesicastes 3:1-15 . However there are snipits of Biblical references in a few other songs and spiritual songs about beliefs .

The phrase is not in the Bible, but the passage on which the song was based is found in Ecclesiastes 3: 1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

It means that if someone yells at you and you are calm and polite, the person is likely to calm down as well, and you two can talk things out. That particular phrase comes from the Bible. The Bible contains a lot of similar sayings.
