Almost all horses can be traced back to the Arabian, whose lineage was spread throughout the world during the Muslim conquests initiated by the Prophet Mohammed in the seventh century. In fact, the Arabian bloodline is considered so pure that owners can register a horse as an Arabian even if it is only half Arabian.

If you mean true white then that would be the ' Camarillo white horse'. It's not fully a breed, but more of a type. But are well on their way to being a full breed in the future.
If you mean 'white' as in a light grey (grey/ black skin under the white hair means a horse is grey, not white.) Then there is the Camargue horse, which is a all grey breed.Another grey breed is the Lipizzan (lipizzaner), although the vast majority of the breed is grey, an occasional black, bay or brown foal will stay dark as an adult.

Which breed of horse is consided to be the oldest and purest?

Well technically the Przewalski's horse is the oldest and purest of the wild horses, in fact it's the only truly wild breed of horse in the world. However there are three real contenders for oldest and purest of the domestic horse breeds. These would be the Caspian, the Akhal-Teke, and the Arabian. Recent research however shows that the Arabian is actually a cross between the Caspian and the Akhal-Teke as it has blood markers for both of these two breeds, but Caspian and Akhal-Teke lack markers for Arabian blood. The research into this is fairly new and not well publicised and the Arabian Horse Association maintains it's belief that the Arabian is the oldest and purest breed.

What is the oldest breed of horse in existence?

There is some debate to this question. There are those who say that the Arabian is the oldest domesticated horse breed in the world, but others argue that the Caspian is much older, being some 3,000 years before the Arabians were ever "created." It has physical characteristics different to other equines. There is an extra molar in the upper jaw, a pronounced difference in the shape of the scapula, and a different formation of parietal bones of the head. With Arabs, there is evidence of the trilingual seal of Darius the Great (c. 500 BC) showing very small horses pulling the royal chariot; the Egyptian artifacts, dated 1,000 years before Darius, depict similar horses of small stature but full of quality. Then there are still others that argue a third breed, being the Prezwalski's horse, is the oldest horse breed in the world due to its truly wild nature and the fact that it's the first horse with modern characteristics after the last Ice Age.

What is the oldest you can breed your horse?
