Remember the Earth spins and faces the sun. Any areas directly above or below the UK, taking into account the fact our planet 'wobbles' on its axis, will have the same sunrise and sunset as us here. If we get sun at all!

The science behind it is complex and this is only a rough idea based on what I know.

Everywhere along the same longitude as the U.K. has local noon (not necessarily clock noon) at the same time each day, but the closer you get to the equator the less the amount of daylight per day deviates from 12 hours, and the closer you get to the poles the more the amount of daylight per day deviates. Also, the amount of daylight at a certain latitude is the same as the amount of darkness on the same day at the same latitude in the other hemisphere. For example, on the day that 40° north latitude has 14½ hours of daylight, 40° south latitude has 9½ (24 - 14½) hours of daylight.
