A little more...In the case of GB, it seems arguably true that the pound sterling may be stronger than the euro, and that the British economy may be (arguably) stronger than that of the European Congress. So GB participating in the Euro would have two unattractive effects: Such a move could devalue the pound sterling during the conversion, thus upsetting the UK economy. And doing so would cede control of their currency to the EC; something Great Britain is hesitant (to say the least) to do.
