Natural diamonds can be industrial diamonds or gemstone quality diamonds.

Gemstone quality diamonds are worth more than industrial diamonds.

If by 'industrial', you mean man-made, then a natural diamond will always be more valuable than a man-made diamond of equal carat weight, unless the natural diamond is not of gemstone quality.

Why is a diamond considered as a gemstone?

Diamonds are costly whether they are natural or enhanced and the cost continues to rise. Diamond prices rose 30% in the last year alone. Diamond is the hardest mineral, therefore, it's perfect for jewelry of any kind, whether as a solitaire or accent stones to enhance another gemstone. Gemstone value will depend on the 4 "Cs" which are clarity, color, carat weight, and cut, in that order. A half carat diamond that is clear and colorless will be worth a lot more than a one carat diamond with imperfections and a yellowish color. However, most diamonds mined -- about 75% -- are used for industrial purposes, making gem-stone quality diamonds all the more rare.

How many faces does a natural diamond gem have?

Some gem-quality diamonds come from the ground in the shape of two pyramids joined at the base, with four 'faces' on each pyramid. This is an ideal, natural diamond. Very few natural diamonds are found with this ideal shape. (Diamond as a precious mineral was probably first admired based on a human picking up such a stone, more than 5,000 years ago.) Most diamonds as they are found, are mis-shapen with many faces. As well, only 25% of mined diamonds are of gem quality, the remainder are considered 'industrial diamonds' not suitable for processing as gemstones.

Is a genuine clean diamond worth as much as a genuine diamond?

I think you are asking if a natural clean diamond is worth as much as a natural diamond that is Not considered clean? The answer is no. A clean diamond means that it is clear from imperfections. Now this can mean clear to the naked eye, or clear under a microscope. Of course the diamond that is clear under the microscope is much worth more than a diamond that is only clear to the naked eye.
