Leutinizing hormone (LH) is the hormone that stimulates a follicle to develop a mature egg. LH and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) work together to regulate egg production and ovulation in females.
The luteinizing hormone is responsible for release of the egg from the mature follicle. The immature follicles do not release the eggs. Usually there are few immature follicles and one (or two) mature follicles. This luteinizing hormone comes from the anterior pituitary.
