Yes iMacs have built in support for an external display in extended desktop mode. You may need an adapter to connect the monitor to the iMacs Mini-DVI output port.
A person can use target display mode on a 2012 iMac and a miniport cable by connecting through Thunderbolt or Firewire. This will allow a person the ability to connect their laptop to the larger screen.
Use software display mode, and the smallest resolution.

I don't think you can with USB; with a FireWire flash drive you can use another computer's target disk mode.

Why do you use a mode?
Find out which part is used to "drive" the display. Use a search engine to find the same part or replacement parts. A large part of development boards have a 2x16 (or other size) character display. The interface chip used on (most) of those LCDs is a 44780.
Presumably at the 2 and 10 o'clock positions it maximizes the display of the other parts of the dial and its complications - such as a day-date window, moon phase window, or chronograph (stopwatch).
Under the clock you will see 4 buttons. (Mode, down arrow, up arrow, and reset) 1. Hold Mode and Reset down until the display changes to *LL2 2. Then, press Mode once. This will make the clock blink. 3. Use arrow keys to change hours and minutes. 4. Hit Mode, and the clock will save.
You can use a crafting table in creative mode just as you would use it in survival mode.
You can use any mode.. Normally it can use from safe mode and normal mode..
