Depends on schools. Ussually it is...
Summa Cum Laude is 3.9 and better.
Magna Cum Laude is 3.7 - 3.9
Cum laude is 3.5 - 3.7
There is also Egregia Cum Laude which holds the same GPA requirement as summa but is only given to the selected elite.

Summa cum laude (with highest honors) usually the top 5% of graduating class, most schools don't use this percentage; they set a gpa requirement instead giving anyone with a gpa over 3.90 this distinction
Magna cum laude (with high honors) usually the next 10% after that, gpa 3.80 - 3.89
Cum laude (with honors) usually the next 15% after that, gpa 3.65 - 3.79
It goes cum laude, magna cum laude and then suma cum laude (highest honors! :)
Summa cum laude is the highest it means "With highest honor"Magna cum laude means "With great Honor"Cum Laude means "With honor"
Use lower case and italicize cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum.
Typically, it is magna cum laude. Suma cum laude can start at 3.86 for some schools, some are higher. I received the Magna Cum Laude and had 3.90. Got all A's except in two classes got B's. So it must depend on the university.
Cum laude means 'with honor', magna cum laude is 'with high honor', and summa cum laude means 'with the greatest honor'. These designations are granted to every graduate who meets a required grade-point average, so several students in a class, or even an entire class, could graduate cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude. The valedictorian is the student with the highest academic rank in the class, so you would expect he would at least be a cum laude graduate. But if you have a class where no one has over a B average, there will still be a valedictorian but he will not be graduated with honors.
For most colleges and universities it would be magna cum laude. Summa cum laude typically starts no lower than 3.85.
It is an honor awarded to college and university students who display academic excellence. There are three levels of honors as follows from lowest to highest. * Cum Laude * Magna Cum Laude * Summa Cum Laude (highest level).
The highest level of honors is Summa Cum Laude, then comes Magna Cum Laude, and then Cum Laude. Thus, a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 is Summa Cum Laude. Acutally, Summa Cum Laude starts at a 3.85 GPA. Still, different institutions have different requirements.
Nowadays, only 10% of students graduate magna cum laude or higher. It was substantially easier to get magna a few years ago.
It is one of several notations for a student who has achieved honors status based on their grade point average(GPA). Most all colleges and universities have this. There are three levels of honors. They are listed below from highest to lowest. * Suma Cum Laude * Magnum Cum Laude * Cum Laude
