Becoming cold-blooded
The Cenozoic Era (65 million years ago to now) is known as the age of the mammals because this is the period where mammals came to dominate most environments on Earth. Although true mammals evolved in the late Triassic Period about 200 million years ago but where generally thought to be small and most certainly overshadowed by Reptiles such as Dinosaurs. When the Dinosaurs and most other large reptiles died out 65 million years ago, mammals started to become more dominant filling the ecological niches that where filled by large reptiles. Likewise Angiosperms (flowering plants) also shared similar fortunes. Many environments. There was a marked shift from Gymnosperms such as ferns and cycads to flowering plants.

When it was formed, it was in the Mesozoic era, but it ended in the Cenozoic era.
During the Cenozoic Era, the levels of carbon in the atmosphere has decreased to it's lowest point. Transitioning out of this epoch ,there has been an upturn ,which is totally man made.
Animals? Animals filled the seas beginning in the Cambrian, and made their way onto land in the Devonian. The current age (Cenozoic) is the age of mammals, but animals (mainly dinosaurs) ruled the Mesozoic land, while fish reigned supreme in the Paleozoic.
The Phanerozoic Eon(542Ma - now) is made up of the Paleozoic Era(542 - 251 Ma), the MesozoicEra(251 - 65.5Ma) and the Cenozoic Era(65.5Ma - now)
they are mammals because that's how the first one was made
inherited
The Cenozoic era's surface was very bumpy and that when the Earth was flat. When the world started getting round Earths surface started getting flat, but that when there was a lot of earthquakes, which wiped out all the dinasours and made them exstinct.
