Bail is offered; to allow a defendant judged 'worthy' of qualified release to be free to pending their court action. Bail (money or property) is the amount placed at risk to ensure that the released person WILL apper at their court obligations. If they do not, the 'bailor' will suffer the consequencess by having to reimburse the court for the defendatnt's fleeing.

Bail is something of value/a security (usually bearer bonds or money) given to a governmental body to hold, to insure a person charged with a crime will appear in court for his trial. If he appears as required whether he is found guilty or innocent the bail will be returned.

However, most people cannot do not have the amount of bail required and pay a Bail Bondsman to put up the bail security for them. For this service the Bail Bondsman receives a payment that is usually a percentage (normally 10%-15%) of the bail amount. The person who hires the Bondaman does not get this money back. And interesting feature of this arrangement is the Bondsman does not actually have to give the bail amount to the government. They "trust" he will produce it if the bail is forfeited. So he accepts the risk, but it costs him nothing.

False, courts issue bail to force appearance for the later court dates. If a defendant does not appear, they forfeit their bail percentage; money talks. As to having time to prepare, courts don't care if you are in jail or not, as long as you are back on the required date(s).
