Negative is colder. i.e. -40F. This is because as heat rises the Fahrenheit, Celsius and kelvin scale always increase in number. Fahrenheit and Celsius both go from a negative to a positive with increase in heat

Which is colder 40'C or 40'f show your calculations?

40F is colder because it is only 8F above freezing point of water and 40C is warmer because it is it is about 3C higher than the human body temperature. 40F = (40 - 32) x 5/9 = 4.4444 degrees C 40C = (40 x 9/5) + 32 = 104 degrees F

At what temperature does a lake freeze over?

A lake won't start to freeze until the water from the surface to the bottom reaches 40F. It can be noted by simple observation that this happens first around the shoreline. Once the whole lake reaches 40F, the surface will continue to get colder. When the surface of the water drops to 32F, it starts freezing.

Which temperature is colder 40f or 10c?

40 degrees fahrenheit is about 4.4 degrees celsius, while 10 celsius is 50 degrees fahrenheit so 40 fahrenheit is the colder temperature. The formulas to convert between celsius and fahrenheit temperatures (where F is the Fahrenheit temperature and C is the Celsius temperature in degrees) are as follows: Celsius to Fahrenheit: F = C × 9/5 + 32 Fahrenheit to Celsius: C = (F − 32) x 5/9
