What layer of skin that contains the blood vessels and nerves closest to the surface of of the skin is?

The upper layer of the skin is called the 'epidermis'. In birds,
it contains no nerve cells, and their Merkel cells are located in
the dermis. However, in most animals it contains a scattering of
nerve cells called Merkel cells, located at the basal layer.
The middle layer of the skin is called the 'dermis.' It contins
blood vessels, most of the nerve cells, and other structures.
The lower layer of the skin is called the 'sub-cutis' and mostly
contains fat.

Where are hair follicles located?

Your hair follicles are located in your Dermis. The innermost
section of the skin, made up the papillary layer and the reticular
layer. The dermis contains blood and lymph vessels, nerves, sweat
and oil glands, hair follicles, and arrector pili muscles. The
dermis nourishes and supplies blood to the epidermis.

What are the two layers of the serous membrane?

The serous membrane contains the epithelial layer and the

What function does the dermis have in relation to the epidermis?

The epidermis is the part of the skin that faces the outside or
enviroment. The dermis is the layer just under the epidermis that
contains hair follicles, nerves, blood and lymph vessels - the layer
you get the sense of touch from. It is made of connective tissue.
The function of the dermis is to be the major support structure for
the epidermis. It contains the strength in its fibers and is
considered to be the true skin. It also supplies the epidermis with
blood and nutrients.
