It took Edmund Hillary 7 weeks to climb Mount Everest.
Yes After years of dreaming about it and seven weeks of climbing, New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Nepalese Tenzing Norgay reached the top of Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, at 11:30 a.m. on May 29, 1953. They were the first people to ever reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Edmund Hillary and Tenzig Norgay climbed Mount Everest in 7 weeks in 1953
because it takes 7 weeks to get to the top of the Mt Everest and 3 days to get down.
At least two weeks.
7 weeks
You dont tend to wash when you are on Mount Everest except when in Base Camp. Climbers can go many weeks without a shower!
Obviously how quickly you can ascend Mt Everest depends on many factors - your fitness level, how quickly you can acclimatise, the unpredictable weather... One of the fastest ascents was just under 11hours, made by a local Sherpa. It is suggested that of the 7 weeks that are spent on the mountain in organised group trekking packages, only about 21 days are actually spent climbing.
At this very moment, 3rd April 2016 there are Sherpas on Mount Everest getting the route ready for climbers who will arrive in the next few weeks.
