I count 8 - 2 Adams, Kennedy and George H. W. Bush in Mass, Coolidge and Arthur in Vermont and Pierce in New Hampshire and George W. Bush in Connecticut. (George W. Bush's birthplace was misleading since it occurred while his father, whose education had been delayed by the war, was in college at Yale. )

Maine and Rhode Island have not yet birthed a president.

Why do you refer to someone born in New Hampshire as born in New England?

You call a person born in New Hampshire born in New England because New England, when the USA was just starting, was still ruled by the British. The "New" part in front of "England" is there because the British were making a new colony in America. New England today is all of the little states in the North-East part of America. New Hampshire is one of those small states.
