the O-Horizon is the topmost soil so it has the most humus
The layer that contains the humus is called the topsoil.
Soil is divided in horizons called Soil horizons.
Soil horizons: A,B,C,D
Layer A is called topsoil
Layer B is called subsoil
Layer C is called partially weathered rock
Layer D is called unweathered rock.
Topsoil is the soil layer that has the most humus.
Specifically, the term humus designates the organic matter from decayed and decaying animal and plant matter. It is found in the 2 inches (5.08 centimeters) which comprise the topsoil's upper, O horizon and the 10 inches (25.4 centimeters) which make up the topsoil's lower, A horizon. It will not be found among the mixed clay, sand and silt particles in the subsoil or the bedrock, deposits and sediments in the substratum.
It is a proven fact that it is the topsoil layer or the A horizon layer.
I think the topsoil and ground level contain humus.
Horizon A i Believe
top soil
top layer
topsoil.
All soil contains some humus. If it doesn't it is not soil.
The C and R horizon
Humus
the two layers are sub soil The layer of soil that has little or no humus in it is the subsoil. The top layer of the soil has the most humus in it because the dead leaves fall from the plant and go back into the soil.
Topsoil contains organic matter (humus)
humus - study island? lol
Silty Soil contains the most fertile soil
soils have different layers present in it as the depth increases. These layers are called horizons. Humus as we all know is present in the top layer of the soil, which is several inches in thickness and is called A horizon.
bed rock
Humus is located in the top layer of soil. It is a type of organic soil matter and aids in nutrition retention in the soil.
The Fertile soil contains lots of microorganisms which decompose the complex dead bodies of animals and plants into simpler substance called Humus.
