ummm seeing though Doctor Who is a science fiction show and the sonic screwdriver can do practically anything from unlocking everything( as long as its not wood) , can identify sounds, remains, and things that don't even exist; its safe to say that no a sonic screwdriver is not possible.

The Doctor has the sonic screwdriver because it's probally the best Time Lord gadget/tool. It's useful in SO many ways! And, he once had a laser spanner, but Emily Pankhurst stole it, so that's another reason why he has a sonic screwdriver.
