∙ 11y agoThe 48 contiguous states are the 48 of the 50 U.S. states that are adjacent to each other. In other words, it's the 48 states each of which at least partially borders at least one other U.S. state.
The largest by population is California, which has about 46% more people than the 2nd-largest U.S. state, Texas.
The largest by area is Texas, which covers about 68% more area than the 2nd-largest state of the contiguous 48... California.
