Applications
The control panel provides access to applications that allow the management of the computer. The task manager allows for controlling the processes running on the computer - starting them and stopping them, as well as getting metrics on the running processes and applications.

In Task manager, click on the applications tab, click "New Task", type in exactly: "explorer.exe" (without punctuation marks). That will get it back! :)
It monitors all running programs and applications on the computer.

Press: CTRL-ALT-DELETE key then select Task Manager then select Applications in the Windows Task Manager -- Select End Task.
In Windows 2000, the Task Manager can be accessed by right-clicking on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and selecting "Task Manager" from the context menu. Alternatively, you can also open it by pressing "Ctrl + Shift + Esc" or "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" and then clicking on the "Task Manager" option. This utility allows you to monitor running applications, processes, and system performance.
