Take a small screw driver (Or something softer if you are worried about the finish) and push in the catch button on the back of the slide. the Catch button is the round spring loaded piece in the back of the slide that the firing pin indicator sticks out of. Push it all the way forwards and pull the slide back about 1/8th of an inch. The back of the slide should pop up. Be careful not to let the spring launch the catch out of the back of the slide. Assembly is reverse of take down.

remove the safety mechanism spring and then the trigger assembly. Then unscrew the plastic recoil plug assembly that the safety button is mounted on. From there remove the firing pin...usually it is broken so tap it out. The bolt will slide out easilly once the pin is removed. Keep in mind the bolt is notched at the top to allow room for the firing pin which doubles as a keep for the bolt!

Numrich Gunparts Corp lists them as sold out. Bob's doesn't list one either and and e-mail I sent to Bob's came back with an autoresponse that they would contact me in 24 hours. That was months ago and still no contact. The only way I have found is to purchase another Model 50 (difficult to find) as a parts gun. I have one on the way with the factory firing pin. I'm probably going to have either my gunsmith or a metal shop make two or 3 additional pins for me. Be careful what you buy however, I've seen these guns with handmade pins using pieces of cotter key and even nails to make a firing pin.

i believe you are referring to the striker buffer, its job is to cushion the hammer as it returns to the back of the marker, without it the shot cycle will have more kick edit: actually i think they are asking what the black ball in the bolt itself is for, if that is the case then the answer is to make sure your bolt pin does not come out while firing. if you look at your bolt pin there is a semi-circle groove all the way around it, that is where that ball locks in to make sure the pin does not go anywhere while it is slamming back and forth
