Othniel Charles Marsh discovered Stegosaurus near the town of Morrison, Colorado in 1877. Since then, Stegosaurus fossils have been found in the Morrison Formation in Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. In 2006, it was announced that Stegosaurus had also been discovered in Portugal.
Utah was founded by Mormon Pioneers. They first arrived in the area in 1847, when it was part of Mexico. At the time they were led by Brigham Young. That being said Native Americans "founded" Utah long before.
There have been 2 different specimens of Stokesosaurus found. The species Stokesosaurus clevlandi was discovered in 1974 in Utah and Colorado in the USA. The species Stokesosaurus langhami was discovered in Dorset, England in 1984.
