From 1890 to 1900, the University of Nebraska football team was known as "The Bugeaters". Some residents did not like the name and it eventually was changed to the Cornhuskers, a name no longer representing any form of civilized activity. A movement to restore the original name "Bugeaters" is underway in 2009.
