Nevada cast its 6 electoral votes for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. The popular vote count was Hillary Clinton 539,260 and Donald Trump 512,058. The political parties in each state choose slates of potential Electors sometime before the general election. Nevada Revised Statues NRS 298.035 provides for the "Selection of nominees and alternates for presidential elector." NRS 298.035 states that "Each major political party shall, at the state convention of the major political party held in that year, select from the qualified electors who are legally registered members of the major political party: (a) A nominee to the position of presidential elector; and (b) An alternate to the nominee for presidential elector." The 2016 presidential electors from Nevada pledged to vote for Hillary Clinton for President and Tim Kaine for Vice President were Dayananda Prabhu Rachakonda, Larry Jackson, Joetta Brown, Paul James Catha II, Greg Gardella and Teresa Benitez-Thompson.
