The Sikh notion of a saint or prophet is called a guru, meaning one who can offer salvation, and deliver a soul from darkness, into light.

There are many saints and many prophets of the Sikh religion. When we talk of Prophets, we talk of divine beings from the conception of birth that came to this world to light the path to salvation starting with Guru Nanak Dev.

Although there are many saints who have established themselves through meditation and concentration on the one primordial monotheistic supreme being, Waheguru, Sikhs regard the 10 Gurus as their prophets:
