hai.. we came here to look for answers and not to answer
FTP is used by servers, not personal computers. You can have a FTP on your personal computer, but you will need software and programs to do this. If you don't have the right programs then you don't have a FTP. There are some links on how to set up a FTP below. If your new to this you might want to use Windows XP to set up a server, and if your serious then use Windows Server 2003 or 2008. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1491 | http://lifehacker.com/software/home-server/how-to-set-up-a-home-ftp-server-130806.php
For setting up the FTP, you will want to go with the computer technicians. If they are unable to set it up, I would recommend consulting the Geek Squad at your local Best Buy.
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is used to create a file server known as an FTP server which is a location created on the web that allows banks of files to be hosted/made available for download. Many file sharing services are set up in this manner.
FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, allows you to upload documents or files to an FTP server for sharing, remote access, or file transferring. You can either set up your own computer to be and FTP server or you can use a third party FTP hosting service. You will also want software that will work with the FTP server and your local host to easily transfer files. I recommend a couple different solutions for that. Classic FTP: This software is very functional and allows all the FTP commands you need, such as manual uploading, synchronizing, and viewing local and remote servers. Fling FTP: This is a totally new approach to FTP. It is very automated, which makes it really easy to back up files or upload any changes to the remote server. It is a innovation to FTP, without a doubt. You can also work on it manually too so really I suggest everyone try this software, as you aren't losing any functions, just gaining a ton.
Ftp is NOT a secure protocol. All usernames and passwords exchanged in setting up an FTP connection are sent in cleartext, data exchanged over and FTP connection is not encryption and the connection is subject to hijacking. A SFTP protocol however, is secure, thus your information is far safer.
Cute FTP is a FTP client (used to connect to a server). FTP is a point-to-point protocol used for file transfert (FTP meaning File Transfert Protocol).
BYE = Disconnect the FTP session
Web sites are (up) loaded to the server using an FTP program designed for that purpose. Many FTP programs, such as Core FTP, also offer editing and file transfer tools to use on the server too.
A computer/server and software(s). Use a computer to download Filezilla's server, set it up and bingo, you have a FTP. There are more advanced things to do by creating a FTP but the only things you need to specified above.
Use an FTP. You can use a stand alone FTP once you set it up with your blog information or use the one that your hosting service offers.
