Andrew Jackson won the 1828 presidential election defeating John Quincy Adams. In the 1828 presidential election there was a total of 261 electoral votes thereby requiring a majority of 131 votes to win the presidential election. Andrew Jackson received 178 electoral votes and John Quincy Adams received 83 electoral votes. The popular vote totals were Jackson 642,553 and Adams 500,897.
The first elections in the United States only allowed male property owners to vote. In 1828, all white men were allowed to vote. In 1824, John Quincy Adams won the election and many of Andrew Jackson's supporters were quite angry about it. So they worked at changing who was allowed to vote and how a candidate was selected. The candidates in the 1828 election were chosen by state conventions. Jackson's supporters would say that they wanted a man of the people, not the elite.

No, if you are in UK Jail at the time of any UK election you can not vote.
The 1828 election had more voters than any election before it, because it was the second election that the public could vote in (using the term "public" loosely because only white landowner could vote). Before 1824 the electors that vote for the president were selected by the state legislature. There was also a national campaign and more greater newspaper coverage before the election. (The idea that more people voted in the 1828 election is misleading. Although the number of popular votes greatly increased, only 57.6% of those able to vote did.)
Three times as many people voted in the election of 1828 as has voted in 1824
