Gandalf certainly played a key role in the Battle for Helm's Deep. While the Dike, along with the Wall and the Keep were being defended by Theoden, Eomer, and Aragorn, Gandalf was busy rounding up the men of Rohan that had been scattered after the Battle of the Fords of Isen. This included the leader of the men of the Westfold, Erkenbrand. Gandalf led Erkenbrand along with a thousand men on foot to the Helm's Deep, where they cut off Saruman's forces. Gandalf also brought with him, a little more indirectly, Huorns from Isengard and Fangorn. Gandalf also went to Isengard to ask for help from Treebeard. Due to this, Treebeard sent hundreds of Huorns to Helm's Deep. They completely annihilated the orcs, and the Men of Dunland surrendered.
Gandalf fought many foes in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, but his most famous battle is probably with the Balrog in the depths of Moria.
The balrog attacked Gandalf and the party because it was an evil territorial creature who attacked any who ventured into its area. Gandalf attacked the balrog because he was the only one who could realistically fight the Balrog. As the balrog was massive, they could only run for so long before having to fight.
Gandalf fought the balrog because he was forced to. The party could not run away fast enough, and no one else stood a chance against the balrog.
Gandalf rescues them from the trolls. He does so by throwing his voice and getting them to argue with each other. They got so caught up in their fight that they forgot the time and the sun turned them to stone.
Gandalf was originally known as Gandalf the Grey. After his rebirth, he became Gandalf the White in replacement of Saruman. Gandalf the Grey and after his resurrection he became Gandalf the White.
Gandalf was very expert with fire. He caught pine cones on fire with his power and threw them on the wargs. The fire burned them and they scattered, catching the grass on fire. The Goblins re-directed it to catch the trees on fire.
Gandalf. Not even a Balrog can kill him.
Huh
Gandalf would hug Voldemort to death.

Gandalf was sent for a task, and that task is to thwart Sauron, and bring about his destruction. Gandalf is actually Olorin the wisest of the Maiar spirits from Valinor. He was sent over with 4 others to stop Sauron's evil. They were sent in the forms of old men. Gandalf wants to use others to fight Sauron
