The idea of a robot was written about in Science Fiction stories far before anyone invented a real one.
Most people feel that writer Isaac Asimov created the first real robot in his stories. Asimov also created the 3 laws of robotics, which are used today by scientists who are inventing artificial intelligence computers for robots.
The 3 laws:
1. A robot may not harm a human, or through inaction allow a human to be harmed.
2. A robot must obey humans, except where obeying would violate law #1.
3. A robot must protect its own existance, except when that would violate law 1 or law 2.
Robotic devices were not "discovered", instead, automation has slowly evolved from simple devices to the computer controlled devices that we have today.
what was the name of the FIRST modern robot ? what was the name of the FIRST modern robot ?
The first robot was a wooden one that was used to weave things.
um... pretty sure no-one's 'discovered' any robots, but if you mean the people who first saw them, then I guess that'd be the inventor of the robot? And the answer to THAT question would probably be someone in Japan. No racism intended. :)

Nikola Tesla is the father of Robotics. Tesla discovered remote control and patented a radio controlled robot-boat in November 8, 1898 (Patent #: 613.809) in 1898.
who invent the first Robot
The first robot was invented in 1921.
the first robot was built in 2005
George Devol was behind the first robot. It was the first digital and programmable robot. It was made in the year 1954.
