Ambrose Hollingworth Redmoon was a pseudonym under which James Neil Hollingworth wrote. This particular quotation was from an article that Redmoon wrote, called "No Peaceful Warriors!" for Gnosis Magazine, in 1991.
She displayed great courage when she stood up to the bullies at school.
"Courage is not the absence of fear but rather the judgment that something is more important than fear" -Mia's dad
The best way to answer this question is to put it into an every day example....... Two guys (A and B) are at a bar and they both see a female celebrity with her girlfriends at the bar. Male A is too itimidated, shy and full of fear to go up to them. He fears rejection. Male B has the same feelings as male A but goes up to the group of girls anyways because he realizes that that his biggest fear (rejection) is not as important as the opportunity to hang out with that female celebrity and maybe even develop a relationship---- something much more important than the simple fear of getting rejected. This is the best you got? How about on 9/11 when all the police, fire, ems personnel were running into the WTC when everyone else is running out? Or how about the soldier who tosses himself on a live grenade to save the lives of his fellow soldiers?
i believe i heard it on The Black Knight with Martin Lawrence. and it goes, "Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the presence of fear, yet the will to go on."

No absence of fear means nothing, it's normal, the absence of fear means stupidity, taking action despite of fear is courage.
judgement will be issued in your absence.
First, I think that we should rewrite this quote with better punctuations to make it easier to understand: "Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear." (Mark Twain) I think that "Courage is resistance to fear" means that it is sort of an antagonist to fear. That's pretty straight forward... Then, "mastery of fear - not absence of fear" probably means that someone with courage will still have fear; it doesn't mean that he won't have or feel any fear, however he will use his courage to "master", control, and/or manage the fear and get passed it.
The soldier showed courage when he held off the enemy."Courage is resistance to fear, the mastery of fear, not the absence of fear." (Mark Twain)She lost her courage before going onstage.I don't have the courage to sing in public.
The opposite of fear is courage. Courage is the ability to face and overcome fear, often by taking action in spite of it.
Absence refers to the complete lack or nonexistence of something, while near absence implies that there is a very small amount or almost none of that thing present. In other words, absence means something is not there at all, whereas near absence suggests that there might be a small trace or amount.
