The historical Macbeth fought in many battles, including the one where he killed Duncan (no, he didn't really murder him, he killed him in a fair fight), the one where he fought Siward and a huge army of Englishmen and the one where Malcolm dealt him a wound which eventually led to his death.

In the play, we hear from the sergeant about a battle in which Macbeth defeats Macdonweald. We also see Macbeth fighting his last battle against Macduff, Siward and company. Ross also brings news of another battle, which was happening in Fife at the same time as Macbeth and Banquo were dealing with Macdonweald. Macbeth couldn't have been at both battles, however, since they were several hundred miles apart, and he didn't have a helicopter.
