In the last chapter, near the end, it says, "Atticus was right. One time he said you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them." Which is the basic principal of empathy, that you put yourself in someone else's shoes and imagine being in their position.
Another one is on page 112, which explains that Mrs. Dubose had died beholden to nothing or nobody. This made Jem feel empathy torward her.
Racism in "To Kill a Mockingbird" is showcased through characters like Bob Ewell's prejudiced attitude towards African Americans, especially in the case against Tom Robinson. The townspeople in Maycomb demonstrate racial bias through their treatment of the Finch family, Calpurnia, and other African American characters. The trial of Tom Robinson illustrates the systemic racism in the justice system and society at large.
Miss Gates is hypocritial because she feels prejudice against Jewish people by Hilter is wrong but thinks that African American people should continue to be treated how they are. Scout even hears her say after Tom's sentence "it's time someone taught 'em a lesson, they were gettin' way above themselves, an' next thing they rhink they can do is marry us."
also miss gates - scouts teacher - says 'we are a DEMOCRACY' to the kids and she tells them how awful Germany and Hitler are for persecuting Jews even tho America is foing same thing to black people in slightly different
The most obvious one is that an innocent man, Tom Robinson, is convicted of beating and raping Mayella Ewell when it is blatantly obvious that he did no such thing.
Another example is Scout's third grade teacher, Mrs. Gates, who tells her class about all the evil things Hitler is doing to the Jews in Germany; however, Scout observes how she overheard Mrs. Gates talking about how happy she was Tom was convicted and that the black folks in the community needed to be kept in their place.
Another example is when Scout is sitting down with Aunt Alexandra and her circle of friends. Mrs. Merriweather refers to the northerners as "hypocrites" for setting their blacks free but refusing to congregate with them or treat them as equals. She states that down south they have a reasonable way of life - the whites are free to go about their way of life and the blacks are free to go about their way of life. But what Mrs. Merriweather isn't able to see is that the blacks down south cannot go about their own way of life because of all of the Jim Crow laws and discrimination practiced there.
A final example is seen in how Aunt Alexandra believes the Finch's family is above most others in Maycomb. Yet, that is not true, for Atticus explains to Scout that their family history is as tainted by racism and insanity and inbreeding as any other family in Maycomb.
In the historical account about Simon Finch in chap. 1, Simon Finch is persecuted because he is a Methodist. However, then he goes and purchases slaves. Simon also buys slaves in order to get rid of his money in order to not spend his money of gold because it is against God. However, purchasing slaves is no more for the glory of God than purchasing gold.
Mrs. Gate's class- she teaches about the horrors of Hitler and how America would never persecute others, "Over here we don't believe in persecuting anybody. Persecution comes from people who are prejudiced"
Racism is the most important and most abundant topic in To Kill A Mockingbird. The town in which To Kill A Mockingbird is set in is called Maycomb County, where everyone gossips and where everyone hates African Americans. Throughout the story, Atticus accepts a case in which a black man was accused of raping a white woman. Clearly, the black man was innocent, but he was still convicted guilty. This just shows how much prejudice is in this book.
He shows courage when he doesn't fight back at the lynch mob which comes to the jail. He also shows great courage when he is threatened by Bob Ewell. He sets a good example for his daughter.
Atticus shows courage in To Kill a Mockingbird by defending Tom Robinson, a black man, in a town shrouded with racist views. He has a very strong sense of right and wrong.
the ladies that had tea with mrs Alexandra and mrs Maudie were hypocrites becausethey pretended to be christians while they did not act like christians

To Kill a Mockingbird
Erosion is not specifically mentioned in the book "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. The book focuses on themes of racism, innocence, and morality in the American South during the 1930s.
One symbol of racism in "To Kill a Mockingbird" is the mockingbird itself, representing innocence and purity. Tom Robinson, a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman, is similarly innocent and undeserving of the prejudice and discrimination he faces in the novel. Another symbol is Atticus Finch's choice to defend Tom Robinson, highlighting his belief in equality and justice despite the prevailing racism in Maycomb.
