The animated movie (which was actually done by Don Bluth and is one of the few Bluth productions having the quality and style to reasonably be mistaken for a Disney movie) "Anastasia" was loosely based on, well, Grand Duchess Anastasia, the daughter of Tsar Nicholas II.
In real life she was murdered (or possibly "executed", if you're of an especially unapologetic Socialist bent) along with the rest of her family on July 17, 1918, when she was 17 years old. It was at one time considered possible that she and her younger brother might have survived, since their remains were not in the tomb holding the bodies of the rest of the family (the remains of the others were not definitively identifiable, so it wasn't known for certain which of the younger daughters was not there; the missing one could have been either Anastasia or her slightly older sister Maria).
However, the remains of a young adult female and a young male have since been found, and DNA testing has positively identified them as members of the Russian Imperial family, so all four daughters and the young Tsarevitch are now definitively accounted for. Whether Anastasia was the one in the tomb or the one found later, she did not survive the Bolshevik Revolution.
