Sean Harris influenced JK Rowling to write. He was Ms. Rowling's friend while she was in her secondary school. He is, according to Rowling, very like Ron Weasley in Harry Potter. He was not her only influence. She was always passionate about books, probably because of her mother and father, who were both prolific readers. She wrote from a very early age, including one particular story about a rabbit called Rabbit. Her past experiences influenced her greatly. She had depression after her mother died, which had an impact on the way she thought about death. This features heavily in the Harry Potter series.

CS Lewis ("simply a genius"), TH White. According to Rowling.

J.K. Rowling has cited several authors and books as influences on her writing, including Jane Austen, Roald Dahl, J.R.R. Tolkien, and the works of Susan Cooper. She has also mentioned real-life experiences and her own struggles as sources of inspiration for her writing.
