Who discovered the tripod fish and when?

This was not an easy question to answer as I could not find any direct and clear information. However, from doing a bit of research I discovered that 2 names and a year kept popping up. George Brown Goode and Tarleton Hoffman Bean in 1886. I do not know if they discovered the fish or if they funded research into the fish but they definitely have something to do with the fish.
