Dr. Daniel Dahm is an ecologist, geographer, activist, born 1969 in Cologne, Germany. His areas of expertise are transdisciplinary macroscopic perspectives on complex systems as i.a. culture, geopolitics, ecology and economy, combining anthropology, humanities and natural sciences. Main topics are biological and cultural diversity research; interactions between anthroposphere and biosphere, resource management; ecological -economical interdependency and strategies. Daniel Dahm joined the still young international sustainability scene in the early 1990s. As a transdisciplinary scientist, Daniel Dahm acquired a reputation for being authentic and consistent in his work as scientist, consultant, lobbyist and campaigner. Within his work he combines intellectual rigor and reliability with visionary creativity and economic foresight. Daniel Dahm earned his doctorate with a dissertation on sustainable lifestyles and ecological economics. He has led research in civil society development, sustainable consumption and numerous other disciplines relating to sustainability. As researcher and consultant he worked for ministries, research bodies, and UN-instituitions. Apart from extensive lectures and NGO-activities and foundings, he served as a fellow at the Natural History Museum, London, in the fields of his specialisation, sustainability, spirituality and diversity of life. His international reputation and acclaim are largely based on a work that followed in the footsteps of the 1955 Russell-Einstein Manifesto – the Potsdam Denkschrift 2005 ‘We have to learn to think in a new way’. Apart from this his range of publications reaches from theory of science over economic and civil society development, ecological approaches, philosophy up to city development and pharmceutical industry implementation strategies. His core aims and scope of application are strategic planning and acting within dynamic processes in order to develop and implement sustainability strategies for organisations, regions, enterprises and projects. The certainty, that it is the power of every individual which is changing our world, is one of his driving forces.
