Esme Cullen is a character in the Twilight Saga. She is the wife of Carlisle Cullen and adoptive mother of Edward, Emmett, Jasper, Alice and Roaslie Cullen. She is also the adoptive mother in law of Bella Cullen and adoptive grandmother of Renesmee Cullen.
She tried to commit suicide but when Carlise found her in the morgue her heart was still beating and he remembered treating her for a broken leg when she was sixteen. He saved her because Esme was Carlisle's 'Tua Cantante' (just like Bella was for Edward).
Her vampire power/ability is to love and care passionately. Her main focus is to keep her family safe and as a unity.
It is said that Edward is her favorite son because he was her first 'kid'.
Edward composed a lullaby for Carlisle and Esme after witnessing for centuries the touching and everlasting love they had for each other.
