Shortly after Jon and Kate bought the Heffner Road house and were moving in, Jon became suspicious that Kate was sleeping with her bodyguard Steve Neild.

This was due to Steve accompanying her to Los Angeles to get Media Training. While she was in LA she also got a boob job that Steve suggested.

Jon said that when she returned from LA, she had had a personality change and was closer to Steve suddenly, leaving him to suspect they were more than just professionally acquainted.

Jon stated that shortly after she returned Kate broke up with him and then presented him with a contract saying that they would remain married for the show only but could date other people on the sly.

He declined to sign the contract.

Kate wanted what she wanted.

In the 4 months that followed after the contract being presented to him, Kate sent Jon to go live in the garage apartment. Leaving the kids in the house with their live in Vietnamese nanny Judy, while she lit up the book signing and speaking engagement circuit and was never home.

Jon got tired of being marginalized and pushed aside and made the decision one night to go out drinking with buddies and eventually this lead to a weak moment with a few women and then the massive media attention began...

After the divorce was announced a local Reading Hockey coach unfortunately thought Kate was a sad divorcee and through channels, got word to Kate that he was interested in dating her. Bernie Nowotarski, had 6 kids of his own and had recently split from his second wife. He thought they'd have tons in common.

Kate and Bernie had one date and he was shocked at how little she talked about her kids and how much she talked about herself and being famous. Bernie did not request a second date.

Since Kate Gosselin's divorce was finalized in December 2009, she has stated that thse is "married to her kids" and that it would be very difficult to find a boyfriend who could handle all the baggage associated with having 8 children.
